Apocalypse Cult - Book Review

APOCALYPSE CULT is the first book in the Gray Spear Society series. They are God's secret warriors, His henchmen, His assassins cloaked in shadows. When lives and souls are at risk, He sends the Gray Spear Society to save mankind. This time the enemy is the Church of One Soul, a cult that intends to kill thousands of unsuspecting tourists in Chicago. But this is merely the first step in plunging the world into a devastating war. The Society has only a few days to destroy their elusive foe, despite interference by overzealous federal agents.

Review:

To begin with, I received this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion.

I will start by saying I would rate this book a 4 out of 5.  For me it seemed a bit slow at the beginning, but picked up quickly.  Once I got a couple chapters in I could hardly put it down.

As the story line develops so do the characters.  I looked forward to finding out more of each character's background.  Finding out how the Gray Spear Society came about was interesting too.  The author's way of writing really kept me wanting to know more.

The story starts off with the main character, Aaron Glade's latest job.  It really seems like another regular case, but very quickly becomes something much bigger than Aaron could ever imagine.  With one little coincidental meeting with two strangers, his whole life is turned on its ear.  And as I read on I became engrossed in the plot.  There end up being many layers in every action of the characters.

If you enjoy fantasy/sci-fi type stories with real-life basis, I would definitely recommend this novel.  There is a bit of everything in this novel: a little romance, lots of action, and a little mystery.  An adventure through to the end!  And one of the best parts is that there are more coming!  This is just the first in a series with these characters.  I certainly look forward to reading more from this author.
